For putting it in writing that the bank won’t be able to neither attend nor give support to the much awaited Busoga Royal Wedding, ABSA Bank might end up losing business in Busoga.
The latest blow, has come from the speaker of Jinja City Council, Bernard Mbayo who is now rallying whoever hails from Busoga and and loves Busoga Kingdom and the king in particular to close up their accounts with Absa bank.
Mbayo has picked up his pen to write what now has become a viral dozier as below;
There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that this letter must rank so high up there in the biggest corporate blunders ever committed by this banking institution in Uganda. we all must remember that before it’s recent takeover, this was Barclays Bank Limited, i vividly remember driving through kampala some afternoon and reading some inscription off a tyre cover of some 4*4 saying “I vote Barclays for Bank with the worst customer service “. Social media was days later awash with photos of a meeting with someone where apologizes were offered to this disgrantled customer and matters settled Amicably.
The above said and done, the time is now for the Basoga and this region to teach this bank a lesson they should never forget. All banking institutions operate just about the same way, but we choose to open an account at a facility on personal grounds. our people should wake up and walk out of this bank for the disrespect to Baba and deliberate attempt to Extinguish the level of excitement set by the official announcement of this much awaited wedding function. Please don’t get me wrong, am not forcing the bank to contribute where they have no capacity due to earlier commitments but all am saying, is that they could’ve handled this reply in a much better way. why write and post such onto social media? How come we didn’t see the letter from the Kingdom requesting for assistance?
All the above points to one thing, many people think the Basoga start understanding late in life and this doesn’t exclude these institutions. We must come out openly to dispel this kind of thinking because we all know the wedding shall take place as planned. I hold an account with that bank but will close it as quickly as I can as a demonstration of my distisfaction with the way they have mistreated Baba and the institution of the Kyabazingship of Basoga.
