The OC CID at Namusiita Police Post in Namusita sub-county, Buyende district under Busoga North region of the police has been dismissed from the force.
Reports indicate that Detective Inspector of Police, Balikoowa is dismissed with immediate effect from the force for raping a woman victim who had gone to the police to report a case.
It is alleged that woman victim had gone to Balikoowa office to report a case of domestic violence by her husband.
It is alleged that when the woman went to Balikoowa he lured her by promising to give her a place to stay for a night until the next day since she couldn’t go back to the violent husband that night.
When confirming this report, the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said October 30, 2023 that instead, the police officer drove the victim to his home in Nakabira police barracks, bought food and drinks and afterwards raped her.
Enanga said in the morning, the police officer drove the victim and dropped her near Namusiita police post and promised to help her arrest the husband.
“The victim had gone to report a case of domestic violence against her husband. When she reported the matter, police dispatched a team of three officers to look into the matter. They went to the home of the victim to arrest the suspect but didn’t find him. The victim feared to return to her home until the husband is arrested and at around 6pm, our officer, Balikoowa asked the victim to go with him since he had found a place where she could sleep that night,” police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said.
