The police in Kamuli are investigating a fatal accident in which six people died on spot and another three died later while 5 others remain hospitalized with injuries.
The incident occured Saturday November 18 morning at Nawantumbi Trading centre, in Kamuli district along Kamuli Jinja road.
Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha said in a statement that the incident involved a supercustom motor vehicle registration number UAZ742U, which was part of the royal team that departed from Kyabazinga’s palace in Budhumbula heading to Jinja for the Royal Wedding.
“………. at around 10:40am, the motor vehicle which was part of the Kyabazinga royal wedding team convoy lost control and rammed into roadside viewers,” read part of the statement.
Kasadha has further revealed that the killer vehicle was towed by the traffic police officers who swiftly visited the scene of crime and parked it at the Central Police Station pending inspection.
“The bodies were taken to Kamuli general hospital mortuary for postmortem, and the victims taken to different health facilities pending further investigations.
