Police in Kabale are investigating circumstances under which two rifles were stolen from Kabale Microfinance guards.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate said in a statement Monday November 20, 2023 night that the incident happened around 1:30am that day.
He said that five unknown thugs broke into pride microfinance bank and stole two SR-guns with 14 rounds of ammunitions the property of Saracen.
That the assailants also attempted to break the safe of the bank but never succeeded.
He says police swiftly swung into action and the robbers took off abandoning the two rifles they had stolen from the guards.
“A report of aggravated robbery was registered by one of the victim guards one Bategana Estafano aged 38. Our team visited the scene and obtained statements from relevant witnesses and the two guns were recovered with 9 rounds of ammunitions within the bank building,” said Maate.
The guard who reported was held to assist in investigations.
