Residents of Nakawano village in Nawansangwa parish Kizuba subcounty Namutumba district on Monday December 18, 2023 woke up in shock following the murder of their 24-year-old colleague identified as Margaret Mayo who was reportedly killed by her husband.
It is alleged that Alifari Ombaga, 30, destroyed the life his wife on accusations of obtaining shs2,000 from unidentified man to buy a clay pot which prompted the husband to develop suspicion that the good samaritan could be in love affairs with his dear spouse.
The deceased is said to have purchased the clay pot to cook the anticipated Christmas meat as people prepare for the festive season.
According to Esuka Logose, a neighbor of the couple who witnessed the stunning ordeal explains that the furious husband spent a night questioning his wife about the source of the funds she used to buy the pot.
She alleges that the husband had abandoned his family and left the responsibilities to the wife.
“The woman was forced to borrow two thousand shillings from a village friend to buy a clay pot to cook the soon Christmas food because the man had ignored the family,” narrates Logose, a village women leader.
Diana Nandawula, the Busoga East police publicist confirmed the apprehension of Ombaga who was enroute for hiding in Bugiri district.
“We managed to bring him to book on his way to Bugiri district and he is now in our hands,” stated Nandawula.
She noted that the deceased’s body was handed over to her family for burial as investigations proceed to establish the motives of the suspect to practice the unlawful action.
