Fresh misunderstandings have erupted in the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) in Kamuli district after members started accusing one another of betraying the party.
The latest indicates that the former flag bearer on the mayoral race in Kamuli municipality, Twahil Waiswa, was dismissed from the party on accusations of obtaining UGX80 million from authorities of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Addressing Journalists at the NUP offices in Kamuli municipality, the party registrar in Kamuli Julius Amuvin emphasizes that Waiswa received the money which the district NUP fraternity couldn’t admit and decided to dismiss him.
It is alleged that Waiswa has severally conducted various hidden meetings with NRM officials in Kamuli which came to light after foot soldiers were alerted about his unidentified agendas.
“It is unfortunate that our comrade joined the oppressors, he invited some of our members and announced his resignation from the struggle,” says Amuvin.
According to a reliable source, Waiswa was once given shs.5,000 from a yet to be identified former NRM candidate in Kamuli municipality and vomited tough theories and secrets of NUP in Kamuli district which signified his weakness and could not be trusted.
In his response, however, the embattled Waiswa Twahili refuted the allegations, expressing his confidence and determination to removing the purported dictator, President Yoweri Museveni his governance in the country.
“I have never thought or had any dream of joining NRM. That is “political defamation” against my candidature,” elaborates Waiswa, adding that; “I currently don’t rise thirty thousand shillings and even my phone has mechanical challenges. I would be in celebrations if I had received any money.”
In the same umbrella, Faizal Kibengo who claims to be the Kamuli municipality NUP chairperson also pronounced the dismissal of the renowned politician and NUP diehard, Moses Bigirwa, from the party citing a number of reasons including undermining Busoga Kingdom.
Kibengo accuses Bigirwa for attempting to disorganize the recent Kyabazinga Royal wedding, obtaining money from the speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Annet Among and participating in scandalous deals that demean the corporate image of NUP.
Kibengo’s voice against Bigirwa is an addition to party’s principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine who recently sacked the former Kamuli municipality aspirant and head of mobilization in Busoga for reportedly engaging in unhealthy practices that contradict with party principles and values.
However, Badiru Kavuma the Kamuli district NUP boss lashed Kibengo for what he described as baseless allegations, stating that he (Kibengo) has no authority to terminate the membership of a member in the party.
“Kibengo was fired from office sometimes back because of his misconduct. He is misleading a section of our members to indulge in such baseless accusations,” Kavuma fummed.
He affirms that Bigirwa is still a proactive participant of NUP despite his individual challenges and described Kibengo as a mentally challenged person.
