Police in Jinja district have arrested a 30-year-old man only identified as Bulo, popularly known as Scopus on accusations of defiling a minor.
Allegations show that Bulo, whose main source of income is ferrying water to people’s homes in Wairaka trading centre in Jinja district, on January 8, 2024, seduced the primary four school-going girl and engaged her in love affairs.
The Kiira region police mouse-piece, SP James Mubi confirmed that a case of aggravated defilement has been registered at Kakira central police station against a one Bulo.
“The victim was in company of other children playing at home and the accused person allegedly grabbed her by force, took her to a kiosk that is located behind the main house and defiled her,” said Mubi.
Mubi noted that police immediately after receiving the unfortunate reports, responded and apprehended the suspect who is soon going to face the law.
The victim who has been staying with her grandmother, was medically examined while the suspect’s heath is yet to be examined as well.
He echoed that investigations into the unlawful act are proceeding on well before highlighting that by the time the crime was committed, the grandmother was not at home.
Halimah Namuwaya, a saloon operator in Bugembe, Jinja city Northern division, attributes illegal sexual activities to drug addiction among some individuals who resort to defiling young girls after turning abnormal senses.
She says some young girls are attracted by money to satisfy their individual needs given the extreme poverty within their respective households.
“These days young girls are sexually attractive and most of them are sometimes not raped, they take themselves to lustful men who end up defiling them,” she said.
