Jinja city superstars, political figures, social media bloggers and residents in the region are still questioning each other “who wants them dead”.
Seasoned comedian and local broadcaster, Hussein Muyonjo popularly known as Swengere this week revealed that his life is undergoing a dangerous threat and he lives on his own risk.
Swengere who works with a local 87.7 Baba FM located at the Kyabazinga hill in Bugembe, Jinja city, reportedly received death threats from a yet to be identified individual who uses a telephone to communicate the intimidations.
Not only Swengere and his family, the alleged “terror threat notice” indicated two other renowned presenters both attached to the Kyesimira road based Busoga One FM 90.6.
The “Ebyekusifu” show crew of legendaries, Hassan Muwanga and Rogers Mbajjwe are also reportedly wanted dead.
In the recent social media posts, Swengere said; “I would like to inform you comrades that there is a number (0758077752) which is calling me and threatening to kill me, Hassan and Mbajjwe.”
The purported caller who identified himself as a SFC commando, first made a phone call to the self-proclaimed Muwoomya (Swengere) and further continued with text messages.
“I have ur contract to get you. I have 120 bullet rounds of gun for you and and your family, Mbajjwe, Muwanga,” reads the screenshot text message shared by Swengere.
The wanted are subscribers of the National Unity Platform (NUP), eyeing for political offices. Swengere prefers Jinja North constituency in Jinja city while Muwanga and Mbajjwe are eyeing for Njeru municipality in Buikwe district.
Known for his outspoken character with his opposition political comments, Swengere is unsteady with the threats which he says has never experienced before.
“Someone greedy for the post in Jinja City Politics wants Swengere, Mbajjwe, Hassan all dead. We’re ready but never to change our minds. You can kill us all,” Mbajjwe posted in a local WhatsApp group chat.
Mbajjwe posted that the critical matter of interest was taken up by their bosses at the NUP secretariat and lawful steps shall soon be undertaken.
