The territorial police in Mityana district are investigating an aggravated robbery unfolded at Mabuye Kabalungi cell, Zigoti Town Council when the yet to be identified thugs forcibly entered into a resident’s home and robbed several properties.
Preliminary findings suggest that three unidentified individuals armed with pangas Monday attacked the home of Mark Ggingo Kaberenge Byekwaso 11, also known as Kasujju and tied up the 63-year-old man and Rosemary Nambakire,57.
The assailants robbed them of a black Toyota Harrier Registration Number UBK 650Y, 3 smartphones, cash amounting to 3.2 million, and other property.
“We were informed immediately and rushed to the scene, where our task teams documented and examined the crime scene,” SP Racheal Kawala the spokesperson of Wamala regional police, confirmed.
She said the robbers forcibly broke into the house using masking tapes to tie up the victims, and assaulted them with pangas before taking off with their belongings, including the car ignition key.
Kawala added that; “Statements from the victims have been recorded, and an exhibit of a bag containing breaking implements was recovered from the crime scene.”
The robbed motor vehicle was found in a parking located in Wakiso, and towed to Nankuwadde police post, leading to the arrest of the parking’s security personnel to assist in the ongoing investigations while fforts are under way to apprehend the robbers for prosecution.
