In a horrific and terrifying turn of events, Unidentified gunmen Sunday mercilessly shot four cattle dealers at Akonguyo village in Amudat Sub County, Amudat district and died on the spot.
Joint security operatives including police and UPDF are in the bush searching for the alleged assailants who reportedly destroyed the lives of the innocent citizens in the Karamoja sub-region.
According to findings, the warriors trailed the victims who were traveling in a black Toyota Harrier UBP 601Q along Lemusui Road and opened fire on them before taking off in the bushes at around 3pm.
The distressing incident was confirmed by IP Mike Longole, the acting Mt Moroto regional Police Spokesperson who said a team of detectives with a canine dog, had already visited the crime scene and managed to recover some substantial evidence.
“We inform the public that, Police in Amudat District have today (Sunday) at around 0330pm registered a nasty incident where four people who were traveling in Motor vehicle Reg. No. UBP 601Q Toyota Harrier black in color were shot dead by suspected armed thugs along Lemusui Road in Akonguyo village, Amudat Sub County,” said Longole in a statement.
Longole who expressed regret, condemned the murder, saying statements were recorded from witnesses to help investigations.
The victims whose particulars were not disclosed are said to be residents of Mbale City in the eastern Uganda.
Longole added that the motive behind the attack is currently unidentified while the bodies were conveyed to Amudat Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
