Busoga’s traditional norms and cultural beliefs emphasize the significance of applauds and commendations to individuals who would significantly contribute to the regional, national and community developments and transformations.
This follows a local saying; “Akoze ebilungi asiimibwa”, literately meaning that “He who does the good things, should be appreciated”.
A group of sons and daughters of the soil under their umbrella Busoga Bloggers together with concerned citizens of Busoga region produced a list of personalities and organizations that have rendered important and exceptional services to the subjects of the the vibrant Monarchy, His Majesty William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV.
The group believes that the cited persons and Organisations have remained patriotic to the region and the country at large for their proactive developmental knowledge and rendering support in fighting against the region’s core challenges of poverty, ignorance and diseases.
These have also provided maximum contributions in advocating for the free corruption region and promoting security in the various places in Busoga.
Hon. Minister Princess Persis Namuganza the State Minister for Housing and Urban Development, who also doubles as the Bukono legislator in Namutumba district topped the list followed by the region’s important daughter, Rebecca Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs.
Serving as the Kamuli woman member of Parliament for decades, the vocal and our outspoken Kadaga who was the speaker of the 9th and 10th parliaments, has served the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government since 1989, advocating for the development of Busoga.
Rt. Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba, the minister for General duties in the office of the Prime Minister who formerly served as the NRM secretary general was also among the appreciated individuals. The group further extended appreciations to Rt. Hon Lukia Isanga Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister and woman legislator representing Mayuge district.
Milton Muwuma Kalulu, MP for Kigulu South in Iganga district, Florence Mutyabule, the presidential advisor on poverty alleviations in Busoga, Hajji Walubi Abubakar the chair of NRM party in Iganga and leader of the party bosses in Busoga were also named.
Hon Nakato Mary Annet (Buyende district), Muzaale Martin Mugabì Kisule of Buzaaya county, Milly Babalanda, minister for Presidency, Kagoma North’s Alex Kintu Brandon and Owekitiibwa Ahmed Noor Osman, the second deputy prime minister of Busoga kingdom.
Additionally, Faruk Kirunda, deputy presidential press secretary, Maj. General David Igumba, the Commandant of the UPDF’s Senior Staff and Command College in Kimaka Jinja and the Iganga Municipality Mayor, Bamu Lulenzi, belonging to the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) are seen on the list.
Others who mentioned include SP James Mubi, the Kiira region police spokesperson, Owek. Muhammad Lubega the proprietor of Lubega school of nursing that has for the years educated Busoga children in medical faculties. Zijan David Livingston MP Butembe county, Hon. Daudi Migereko, Majid Dhikusoka, Solomon Trevor Baleke, the Namayingo Deputy RDC and Bishop Moses Samson Naimanhe, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese.
Baaba Fm was ranked the best loca Radio station, Busoga one FM, Eye Media, Busoga Today, a regional newspaper based in Jinja and NBS fm courtesy of its political show host, Grace Morgan Mwesigwa.
Musana Community organization, Ali Isegero, Ibrahim Shamir Byakika, Resty Nanteza popularly known as Nakapachu, Meddy Mbentyo, Jinja Senior Secondary school, Tata Owen (the proprietor of Tata Owen complex in Jinja), Bishop Charles Martin Wamika and Busoga Health Forum were commended.
