In a tragic turn of events, a mob justice incident has left Rose Asekenye lifelss when residents allegedly lynched her.
Reports indicate that the woman who breathed her last on Saturday ended the life of her husband last year in October and went into hinding at an unidentified place.
The tragedy and distressing development unfolded at Ogurutapa village, Obutete sub county in Pallisa district.
Asekenye’s lifeless body was found lying in a poll of blood.
According to Justine Onyait, the district councillor representing Obutete sub county, the resident was murdered by unidentified individuals in a mob justice, which she condemned as described as an indigenous way of revenge.
The Pallisa Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Majid Dhikusooka, confirmed the matter and condemned this act of taking laws into hands.
Dikusooka cautioned communities to report law breakers to authorities instead of terminating their lives in unlawful manners.
“The woman had disappeared from the village after allegedly killed her husband, but she was slaughtered by villagers immediately she returned home. It is unfortunate that the family is now no more,” said Mr Dikusooka.
Police have launched investigations on the orders of the RDC to establish the alleged law breakers who alleged murdered the suspect who would be in police custody facing answering charges of murdering her husband.
