Two people have been confirmed dead following an accident that happened in Mabira Forest at Sanga-Mabira Kampala -Jinja Highway last night in Buikwe District.
Ssezibwa region police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto Tuesday February 20, 2024 morning confirmed the incident.
Butoto said that motor vehicle with registration UAV/UAQ 048C Mercedes Benz and KCJ 334Z/ZE 5472 Mercedes Benz flat white in colour carrying a container from Kampala had a head-on collision as it tried to overtake other vehicles.
“The vehicle that was coming from Kampala was reportedly overtaking other vehicles on the way,when it attempted to overtake another in Mabira unfortunately it collided with another vehicle killing both drivers instantly,” said Butoto.
The deceased were identified as Francis Kiwanuka a male adult aged 40, the driver of a driver of motor vehicle UAV 424Y/UAQ 048C and Gabriel Kariuki Karugu a male adult aged 46 years the driver of motor vehicle KCJ 334Z/ZE 5472, whose bodies were conveyed to Kawolo hospital mortuary.
Ms Butoto said the cause of the accident was careless Overtaking by the driver of the motor vehicle – KCJ 334Z/ZE 5472.
