Police in Adjumani are hunting their own boss, the Officer incharge Alebtong Central Police Station in Alebtong district, ASP Moses Acaye for allegedly shooting a suspect leading to his death.
Acaye allegedly used his pistol to shoot a 24-yeat-old Simon Omona from Lulayi village in Adjumani district on February 20 at around 11 a.m.
According to the police, the officer left his workstation with a pistol on the fateful day to follow up on investigations into the murder of his brother, Opio Emmanuel who was lynched by a mob on February 10.
“He was part of a team that responded to Apaa trading centre after one of the suspects was sighted,” said the police.
It is reported that upon reaching the trading centre, he drew his pistol and shot at Opio, who was then rushed to a nearby clinic where he succumbed to his injuries.
The officer is said to have handed over the pistol for safe custody at Lacor Hospital Police Post on February 24 before disappearing.
The police have now initiated a serious manhunt for him.
