Declaring her entry into elective politics, the Presidency Minister, Milly Babirye Babalanda was Sunday March 10, 2024 welcomed by the people of Budiope West constituency in Buyende district as a heroin as they anxiously await to vote for her into the next parliament as their area MP.
Before she could mention it herself, the electorates who gathered at Imeri primary school in Nkondo Subcounty asked Babalanda to accept representing them when the current term ends in 2026.
Led by their district NRM acting chairman, Paul Muwanga, the constituents expressed determination and readiness to entrust power to Babalanda to represent them in the August house.
Admitting the pleas of Budiope West locals, Minister Babalanda informed the gathering that her obedience awaits and the area will be effectively represented.
“I have not come to fight but to ensure service delivery such that my people of Budiope benefit from government,” said Babalanda.
“Those who have words can continue talking behind our back as we continue delivering services,” said Babalanda as she vowed to ensure Budiope West is served with piped water all over.
Babalanda also instantly solved the problem of lack of seats at Imeri primary school by donating a million shillings to the school to provide a good learning environment to the pupils.
On the issue of the Fisheries Protection Unit (PFU) beating up fishermen at Bukungu landing site, the minister promised to bring the fisheries minister, Hellen Adoa to the landing site and listen to the fishers’ grievances.
In the meantime, she asked the FPU in Bukungu to stop beating up “wanainchi” during their operations.
The minister also said that the faulty transformer at Nakasedere Trading Centre in Nkondo Subcounty would be replaced before the end of this month.
“I am going to contact the concerned office to ensure that our people resume using power very soon,” she noted.
Addressing on transport challenges specifically the issue of roads which was presented by the local leaders, Babalanda pledged to send graders to the constituency to work on all roads in the area.
She also vowed to ensure that a doctor is sent to Kidera Health Centre IV to answer the question of poor health service delivery.
Currently represented by Hon Ibrahim Kyoto, Budiope West constituents have repeatedly expressed disappointments in their legislator whom they have heard about since his victory to Parliament.
In recent reports, the electorates asked the government to establish the whereabouts of their MP, where some alleged that Hon Kyoto could have run mad, reports that The Eye Media is yet to confirm
