The Secretary Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande has asked the public to disregard a social media message indicating that the suspension of Luuka Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Paul Waiswa alias Bwenibwawiiko has been lifted.
Kakande has told this publication that the message which says that Waiswa has been sent to Namayingo as Deputy RDC is fake.
Social media was Sunday March 17, 2024 evening awash with a message believed to have been authored by Waiswa saying he is sent to Namayingo District.
“BREAKING NEWS: Paul Waiswa Bweni Bwamwiko, appointed Deputy Resident District commissioner Namayingo district,” reads the fake message.
“That is not how we conduct business. We don’t post RDCs by a mere text and as you are very aware, today is Sunday,” said Hajji Kakande.
He explained further that Waiswa still has criminal cases to answer and it is only until investigations clear him that the presidency shall determine whether to redeploy him or not.
“He has a case at police. He shall have to settle it first. And should we find out that he had a hand in the fake message trying to cause anxiety, he shall face our disciplinary committee,” another official in the HR department of the presidency told this publication.
Waiswa who initially served as a mobilizer in the office of the NRM vice chairman for eastern region, Capt Mike Mukula was a fortnight ago suspended from office after allegedly beating up an individual identified as Abudallah Kisige.
In a video clip that made rounds on social media platforms, Mr Waiswa a seemingly drunk person is seen and heard caning a nonviolent slim youth sitting on a stationary motorcycle.
It is said that the boy bearing shabby hairs on the head undermined the DRDC’s orders to wash his vehicle, leading to the fight.
The incident happened on a Sunday at a washing bay located in Kiyunga Town Council Luuka district where the determined presidential representative lost his temper against the car-wash man who never touched at the his (Waiswa) body.
According to allegations, the washing bay where Mr Waiswa had taken his vehicle to get clean has a car washing machine donated by the Luuka North legislator Luke Kyobe for young men to earn a living.
The boys who claim the machine broke down are reported to turn their support to another candidate eyeing for the same constituency, whose representative (Kyobe) is a longtime “buddy” to the DRDC.
As a consequence, Waiswa remains suspended from duty until further notice.
