Busoga is known for witchcraft, and many holders of political positions secretly consult traditional herbalists and seek their godly powers, especially during campaigns. This they do on top of also going to Churches during daytime.
However, if it was not the sleep of his tongue, Hon Aga Isabirye David of Jinja North made it very clear publicly that he is ready to use whichever means possible to retain his seat even if it required witchcraft.
His statements that excited mourners who had turned for the burial of Mzee Godfrey Kibuuka, who has been the LCI chairman of Wanyange Lake Cell, Jinja Northern Division also shocked many.
Aga told off Livingston Zijan (Butembe constituency) that he will become visually impaired should he cross from Butembe to Jinja North in the next elections.
Already Zijan has made it clear that he will contest in Jinja North come the next general lections.
When given the microphone, Aga used the opportunity to deliver his message to none but Zijan.
“You will lose your sight and become blind if you come to my constituency,” he shouted on the microphone as mourners cheered.
“The minister had come, and she ended up in Budiope West. If Zijjani also persists, he may even become visually impaired,” Aga said.
Like in the previous elections that attracted seventeen candidates, a probable list shows over twenty people who have so far expressed interest to represent the same constituency.
Questions remain posed, and they are, of course, unanswered why the Dean of Independents in Parliament, Zijjani, is quiting Butembe constituency to Jinja North.
Terming himself “King Kong,” Zijjani sees himself as the best candidate to represent the constituency, and he vows to deal with anybody confronting his candidature.
Jinja Northern Division houses Bugembe, Mafubira, and Budondo subcounties.
