In a Friday disturbance in Jinja city, Police rescued a one-year-old girl from a fire outbreak that gutted a house where she had been abandoned by her mother.

The confusion happened in Masese 1 cell, in the Southern division of Jinja city in the wee hours when the residents could not manage to save the life of the young girl from the intensified burning fire.

The minor was only identified as Tete while her mother was identified as Veronica Nabanjja.

It is said that Nabanjja left for work in the morning, leaving her the child in the custody of her elder sister called Adilu of eight years, who also left home and went to buy escort for breakfast and the child remained alone in the house.

After a couple of minutes, the house caught fire, prompting neighbors to render some but efforts remained futile until they alerted authorizes.

Police’s fire brigade responded and with the support of the local people, the child was saved from the danger.

The incident happened one hundred meters away from where the scene of fire outbreak that occurred on Monday, March 18, 2024.

Where eight iron sheets houses were completely destroyed and victims remain helpless, seeking relief aid.

SP James Mubi the kiira regional police spokesperson told this publication that a special inquiry has been instituted to establish the cause of the second fire in a period of five days.

“We have instituted a special enquire into this matter. This has happened five days after the recent fire put break and we want find out the cause,” Mubi said.
