Police in Rukungiri have arrested a 54 years old James Kashaija allegedly for the murder of his 44 years old wife, Enid Ndyomuhyenyi.
Reports reaching The Eye Media Crime Desk indicate that the murder occured on March, 4, 2024 night at the couple’s residence located at Rwanama village, Kahoko parish in Nyakishenyi sub county, Rukungiri district.
Emily Tushabomwe, the couple’s daughter informed the authorities that Kashaija went back home from a social evening at Omukikona trading centre, woke up the wife and accused her of being drunk.
The wife also retaliated and told him that he also drinks alcohol, which annoyed him.
“He removed his black gumboots and used them to assault her on the chest and the back,” she said.
Further that when there was an attempt to rescue her, the husband pulled her off the bed, put her on the floor and got a piece of old timber which he used to assault her on the legs, and knees and squeezed her neck.
“He left her naked and helpless on the floor,” she added.
The woman was found the following day dead.
Kigezi Region police spokesperson, Elly Maate has confirmed this crime report.
Maate says the scene of crime was visited, examined and documented and statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.
“We also recovered a pair of black gumboots and an old piece of timber which the suspect allegedly used in commission of the crime,” he said
