Moscow: Students from Nawanyago Technical Institute, Kamuli District, who recently travelled to Moscow, in the Russian Federation for Internship have overwhelmed their host at JSC Brusnika Vostok.
The students, eight in number, obtained UBTEB and DIT Certificates in Tailoring and Fashion Design, and Building Construction.
They travelled as personal guests to His Excellency Moses Kizige, Uganda’s Ambassabor to the Russian Federation, and were issued with Visitor’s Visas.
Kizige’s intention of the invitation was to have the students attached to a large international organization, involved in Garment and Fashion Design, and also involve in International Building and Construction activities.
The attachment would enable students to improve on their skills, and provide them with international exposure.
The Ambassador and the hosts also wanted to make an evaluation of the content in the curriculums offered in our TVET institutions in Uganda.
“The students are already being exposed to the latest technology in the respective industries, and are already handling modern equipment. They have been tested, and have proved that the traning they received at Nawanyago Technical Institute, is far beyond the expectations of JSC Brusnika Vostok. They will continue to work as interns till the end of May, when they will return to Uganda, and then come back immediately with work permits, authorizing them to work in the Russian Federation,” said Ambassador Kizige an interview with the Eye Media, Friday April 12, 2024.
While the students are being provided with decent accomodation and meals, and have been provided with medical insurance, are provided with the necessary dressing requirement. The students are also paid an allowance of US$400 (four hundred dollars) each a month.
“This morning, the Directors at JSC Brusnika Vostok have agreed with Ambassador Moses Kizige, that the Company shall sign contracts with each of the interns, and much better work benefits, befre they return to Uganda to apply for longer stay Visas,” a Russian source disclosed to us.
The Directors have further asked Ambassador Moses Kizige, to immediately identify another 45 (fourty five) ladies with similar qualifications (Tailoring and Fashion Design), and twenty five gentlemen (Building Construction), such that they can urgently work on their respective work permits. The Company shall also need more that 100 (one hundred) employees with similar qualifications for their plants in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
Ambassador Moses Kizige further disclosed that he is now fast tracking the Memorumdam of Understanding that is proposed between the Ugandan Ministry of Gender, Labour, amd Social Development, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, about the Exchange of Manpower and Lbour.
Other than the attractive salaries, the students shall at the end of each year be assessed by the equivalent of the Ugandan Directorate of Industrial Traning in Russia, and be issued with Diplomas, which can be used for admission into degree programmes in International Universities.
The students presently in Russia are; Leticia Mukyala, Elizabeth Namuwaya, Janet Naigaga, Zaina Mukyala, Joan Gonza, Joel Atuma, Arahuman Kiwudhu and Latif wakabi.
