Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) is still nursing wounds of loosing it’s top coordinators in Busoga Sub-region with indicators of yet another exodus of NUP supporters to NRM.
In just a couple of days, the leading opposition party has lost huge icons who have been mobilizing Busoga to defy President Museveni and his National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Yusuf Dabada, the Namutumba district coordinator, Emmanuel Mbalasa Lutaaya, and Muhammad Waiswa, who has been leading the party’s security in Busoga are official converts to the ruling party.
With other supporters, the group was this week welcomed to the yellow party by Captain Mike Mukula, the NRM vice chairperson in charge of the Eastern region.
The defectors accuse party leadership of not having clear strategies for building the party and failing to denounce homosexuality.
“I have crossed over to the mighty ruling party. It is correct that I joined NUP, as I was their flag bearer in the previous general elections. But I thought it wise to return to my home because NUP has no sense of direction,” Dabada was quoted, highlighting why he dumped NUP.
The defection caught NUP by surprise forcing the party leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine with no option but to quickly beg for a radio talkshow to try talk to the remaining supporters not to go.
Bobi who has even himself announced his planned talk show is expected to mainly respond to Dabada Yusuf.
Dabada unmasked NUP leadership during a talkshow on NBS FM 89.4 leaving the party badly bruised.
