The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the ongoing operation, codenamed “Operation Shujaa,” yesterday captured a commander of the Allied Democratic Forces terrorist group by the name of Anywari Al Iraq, also known as AA.
Anywari, an expert in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), is born of Busia district in Eastern Uganda.
During the operation, one sub-machine gun (SMG), 45 rounds of ammunition, 03 walkie-talkies, 01 RPG charger, and an assortment of improvised explosive device (IED) making materials were recovered. Relatedly, four (04) children and five (05) women were rescued in Ituri province in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The rescued children and women are receiving basic medical attention as arrangements are underway to transfer them to a better medical facility.
