Kimanya Kabonera Members of Parliament, Dr Abed Bwanika has said that the people power red berets and overalls shal never be worn again in Masaka.
Dr. Bwanika was on Saturday May 18, 2024 directing his words to the principal of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi.
Dr Bwanika accused Kyagulanyi of directing the Buganda Premier, Charles Peter Mayiga, former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga and failing to prevail over his supporters, whom he said abuse those who disagree with the NUP principal.
He was speaking at the burial of the late Pascal Ssekasamba at Manja Village in Kiseka Subcounty in Lwengo District.
The late Ssekasamba was the younger brother of former democratic party secretary general Mathias Nsubuga Birekereraawo.
Dr Bwanika said the likes of Mufumbiro who were insulting the leaders, did it under the watch of their principal, Kyagulanyi.
“This is not the struggle we were saying Mr Kyagulanyi, those youth who are abusing us are your children and anyone who wants to take me out of here you can do it. Kyagulanyi, stop killing our leaders,” said Bwanika in the face of Kyagulanyi.
Bwanika at the sidelines of the burial rallied NUP supporters in Masaka to stop with immediate effect wearing red overalls (of NUP).
He went as far as alleging that some of the people who wore the overalls were homosexuals.
“We shall therefore on the 22 of May launch a new uniform for you to always wear,’ he said.
