The National Unity Platform (NUP) mobilizers Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine himself trained not to fear anyone have turned against him using the same courage he has always told them to have against whoever oppresses them..
These have reportedly put sanctions against Mr. Kyagulanyi, stopping him from setting foot in Kamuli.
This is the district NUP.leaders had set to have their first stopover on Wednesday May 22, 2024 as they roll out phase II of their countrywide mobilization tour.
But before even authorities could say anything about the program, Bobi Wine’s our team has penned a furious letter to the party Secretary General saying the party president and other officials are not welcome.
Fred Isabirye, Badiru Kavuma, Akram Mpoya and Julius Amuvin, said to be the chairman mobilisation Kamili district, chairman mobilisation Kamuli municipality, NUP district spokesperson and party registrar respectively claim that they are not involved in organizing the event and they shall not allow anyone to implement the activity.
In their letter dated May 20, 2024, the Resident District Commissioner, the District Police Commander and other authorities are put on notice.
They also demand to know who is behind the alleged event of the national tour as the leaders on the ground are ignorant about the move.
They further alleged that during their visit on April 25, 2024, to the party secretariat based at Makerere Kavule, Kampala for some engagements with their bosses, they [and other delegates from Kamuli) were not recognised to a level of chasing them out of the gate, leaving their concerns unaddressed.
“The party did not come up and make a sincere apology against the leaders being hand-heartedness at the secretariat. Now, how comes that you want to pay a visit to the people you dislike to associate with and for us we thought that we would have a meeting for a reconciliation before you visit,” they argued.
“We have imposed the sanctions against the following people not to rist and step in Kamuli municipality during the tour of Mr Kyagulanyi in Kamuli municipality i.e Mr Muwanguzi Andrew, Mr Kaluya Andrew, Mr Swengere, Mr Mukuve Jamal and Sauda Madada,” they further said.
They allege that the mentioned individuals are behind the division and disunity among party leaders in Busoga with a target of excluding and undermining the efforts of Mr Moses Bigirwa in the struggle.
According to Andrew Kizza Kaluya, the head mobilisation of NUP in Busoga, the purported leaders are not known in the party leadership structures in the Kamuli district.
“NUP party doesn’t have spokespersons at the district level. We have only two spokespersons in the country. We, therefore, don’t know those people in our leadership in Kamuli. We only have the party chairman and focal person in charge of Red book registration,” Kaluya said.
Kaluya confirmed that the group went to the party secretariat, and they succussefuly engaged with bosses but maybe never got satisfied.
