The Police in Kamuli have arrested Mohammed Jingo, a 43-year-old businessman, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old juvenile.
A resident of Mbulamuti Cell, Mbulamuti ward in Mbulamuti Town Council, Kamuli district, Jengo reportedly lured the minor, a P.5 learner at Busota Primary School.
ASP Micheal Kasadha, Busoga North police publicist, confirmed the distressing development on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
According to him, preliminary investigations suggest that the mother to the victim relocated with her to Mbulamuti recently.
“Due to her busy schedule in Kampala, she got her daughter a phone for easy communication. Together with friends, the victim has been going to Jingo’s place to buy charcoal. He therefore took advantage of the situation to get the contact of the victim after several failed attempts,” Kasadha said.
He said; “Upon getting the contact, Jingo allegedly started seducing her at night with promises of money of which he succeeded, and by the time of arrest, they had allegedly made three sexual encounters.”
It is said that the mother became suspicious on Friday, June 1, 2024, at night when Jingo made a phone call to the victim.
This prompted her to report the matter at the Mbulamuti police post the following day. However, when she returned home, the victim hd disappeared from home.
The mother used to victim’s peer to locate her.
“Having had knowledge about the sexual relationship between Jingo and the victim, she led the mother to Jingo’s place where the juvenile was found leading to the immediate arrest of the man,” said Kasadha.
The victim and suspect were examined pending further investigations, according to police.
Police appeal to parents to take all necessary steps to safeguard children against similar situations that endanger their lives, especially when they avail them with communication gadgets.
