There is brewing pressure and fears among Members of Parliament as the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) of the police continue to invite some of them to CID headquarters Kibuli for statement recording.
As we talk, there is a lot of 30 MPs summoned and directed to appear at the CID headquarters on allegations of theft of public funds (corruption).
Those summoned and wanted by the police include prominent figures from various political parties.
It is alleged that they involved themselves in receiving kickbacks before they could national budget allocations during Budget processes.
They are uncertain whether they will be left to go after questioning at Kibuli where already three of their colleagues were arrested and detained over the same allegations.
President Museveni recently revealed that he had irrefutable evidence of corruption among legislators and Parliament and Finance ministry staff, prompting the ongoing investigations.

The MPs are expected to appear at the CID headquarters on Monday, June 17th, 2024, at 10:30 AM and thereafter, to answer corruption queries.
This move is seen as a significant step in the fight against corruption, which has plagued Uganda’s political landscape for years.
