In a horrific incident, the Police in Butebo district are hunting for unknown assailants who reportedly murdered a popular pastor identified as Richard Malinga.
The 36-year-old Etesot preacher of Baptist church located in Abila village, Opwetete subcounty in Pallisa district, was attacked by the yet to be identifies merciless individuals.
A resident of Oboliso village, in Komolo parish, Pastor Malinga on June 17, 2024 had an exercise of door to door prayers with his followers at Oboliso II village Kalapata subcounty after which he went to his business place where he offers Computer services at Kakunyumu trading center in Butebo district up to unknown time.
It’s from this time when he got a motorcycle UFA 601S Bajaj boxer of his fellow pastor Okia Charles to push him back home.
Allegations show that at unknown time on the main road of Butebo- Oladoti village at Kayete Swamp in Akisim A village, Akisim parish, Kanyumu subcounty in Butebo district, unknown assailants attacked and murdered him, leaving his lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
“Police received the information early in the morning (Tuesday) and rushed to the scene of crime only to find pastor Malinga’s body with three deep wounds on his head,” confirmed SP Semewo Samuel, Bukedi North region police spokesperson.
He said a police canine was introduced on the scene of crime where it managed to track for about 80 meters from the scene of crime up to the bridge swamp where the assailants cleaned themselves before jumping on a motorcycle.
Police examined the scene and recorded relevant statements and conveyed Malinga’s body to pallisa mortuary for postmortem examination, and a murder file case was opened vid CRB 178/2024 at Butebo CPS.
Semewo said that inquiries are at hand as efforts to apprehend perpetrators.
