FM 92.5 the former Victoria FM [Ensulo Yaife], is now hitting the air waves as Your Voice [YoVo) on the same frequency.
Based at Imanyiro in the rural Eastern Mayuge district, the just rebranded radio station is teasing the renowned giants in the region giving them a boil.
Quiting the established Jinja based Busoga One FM, Rogers Mbajjwe, the regional notorious Luganda News anchor, is running the Yovo as the inaugural station manager.
Like Ibrahim Ndhoga boasted on the emergency of the yet booming Bridge FM, Mbajjwe is also doing the same. Of course the two are experts in throwing praises at what they support. During his time at NBS, Mbajjwe named it Mujumiza Ggwa (national earthquake) and when he crossed to Busoga One, he named it the biggest stations in Eastern.
According to him (Mbajjwe) now, the rural based FM will be the best in Busoga, given the determined crew of experienced presenters ready to showcase the talents on-air. Already he is spreading stations promos via WhatsApp.
Among the ‘microphone generals’ already camping at Imaniro include Mbajjwe himself, former City FM News editor, Julius Muganza, and the young talented sports analyst Tom Lawrence Lumama who was poached from the Born Again OP FM.
Ibrahim Shamir Byakika, Baba FM’s political show host, was also seen posing in pictures with the station manager Mbajjwe.
Mbajjwe recently posted the photos of the current affairs man Isaac Sparks Mugabi, who will be hosting the radio’s evening show to compete Busoga one’s Ebyekusifu and Ndhoga’s Kokota at Bridge FM.
On Monday, July 15, Busoga one signed Ivan Lubega and Esther Nanyombi for the evening news bulletin. These will pair to against Mbajjwe and Julius Muganza at the new radio.
YoVo FM remains at a doubtful trust to overtake the legendary stations like NBS, Busoga one, Baba FM, and the ageing Kiira fm.
Notably, it is worth noting that rural based radio stations find hard times to excel and outcompete the urban based stations.
Mbajjwe has repeatedly on social media declared that his FM would commence normal programming on July 15, but it was futile, the listeners didn’t feel the expected vibe, only to hearing the normal cool music and teasing sweepers.
“We’re going to lead all the Radio Stations here by force oba mwagala oba temwagala. YoVo FM Eiloboozi Lyo has created pressure even before starting normal programming. I’m the Commander of this Operation. Those who know my style of work are already on pressure,” Mbajjwe was quoted on a media WhatsApp group, News Tips.
