The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has been been advised to look for an alternative venue to celebrate their party growth.
The party’s secretary general David Lewis Lubongoya last week wrote to the government, seeking to utilize the Kampala based ceremonial ground for the fourth anniversary of the NUP.
On Tuesday July 16, 2024, Mr Sam Kallu, on behalf of the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs (MoVA) wrote to the NUP that the government stands to decline their plea.
He said Kololo ceremonial ground will not be available due to the ongoing infrastructural development.
“We acknowledge receipt of your letter ref: NUP/ADM/061/2024 dated 09th July, 2024 requesting to use Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to commemorate Four Years since the unveiling of the National Unity Platform scheduled for 22nd July 2024.”
“However, due to the ongoing infrastructural development at the Kololo ceremonial Grounds, we regret to inform you that the grounds will not be available for your event,” Mr Kallu signed the letter on behalf of the permanent secretary of MoDVA
The NUP prepares to celebrate their fourth year in existence after it was officially unveiled in 2020 with Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine as the inaugural president.
