Chairman of Busoga Growers Cooperative Union has been arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court, charged with causing financial loss and conspiracy to defraud government before he was remanded.
Basoga and others still at large allegedly swindles Shs 4 billion government money between 2018 and 2023.
According to a statement issued by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Basoga conspired with his fellow Union leaders and some other people and defrauded the money meant for war loss compensation by government of Uganda to Busoga Growers Cooperative Union.
Basoga was remanded till 1st August 2024 when he will reappear in court for mention and bail application.
Baosga joins the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa, three Members of Parliament, a Lawyer and senior Ministry official over related charges. The latter group is on remand over allegations of stealing Shs3.4B meant for war loss compensation by government to Buyaka Growers Cooperative Society.
