As we celebrate Youth Day, it’s imperative to reflect on the role of young people in shaping Uganda’s future. While it’s natural to unwind and enjoy life, the prevalence of youths singing Hozambe and sleeping in bars raises concerns about their engagement with the country’s challenges.

Uganda’s youths are the backbone of the nation, accounting for a significant portion of the population. However, their priorities seem to be misplaced. It’s crucial to recognize that the future of Uganda depends on the actions and decisions made today.

Rather than merely enjoying the present, youths should be concerned about the state of their country. They should be invested in addressing pressing issues like unemployment, education, healthcare, and governance.

It’s time for Uganda’s youths to channel their energy into driving positive change. They should engage in meaningful discussions, participate in community service, and advocate for policies that benefit their generation.

As a nation, we need to encourage and support our youths to become active citizens, innovators, and leaders. We must provide them with platforms to express themselves, access to resources, and mentorship to unlock their potential.

Let us celebrate Youth Day by challenging ourselves to be more than just spectators. Let us work together to build a brighter future for Uganda, where the youths are empowered to create lasting impact.
