This Sunday August 18, 2024, former Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi shall be sent off to rest, according to a programme released by the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Hajji Kirunda Faruk on the behalf of government. But the latest information we have landed on is that the man from Matale village said his body should never be laid down but buried standing.
Mirundi, who passed Tuesday August 13, 2024 night at Kisubi Hospital made the directives to his family members led by his mother Molly. He also went on radio and made the same directives live on air during a talk show hosted by Adam Kungu on Radio 4.
Mirundi said he wanted to be buried differently and to remain standing even in death.
The controversial analyst said he had already prepared his special grave besides their ancestral graveyard in Matale village to make sure his wish is fulfilled.
“I dug my own grave and left the ancestral graveyard, and they will bury me while standing,” he stated with conviction.
This directive, according to Tamale Mirundi, is rooted in his desire to be remembered uniquely, not as someone who was laid down, but as someone who stood tall even in death.
He emphasized that this was a long-held wish, one he had communicated to his mother, Molly, many years ago.
Despite initially despising the idea, Molly eventually accepted and approved her son’s unconventional wish.
In keeping with another family tradition, Mirundi also expressed that after his death, his family should buy the latest model car for him, just as they did for his late father. This, he believed, was an important part of honoring his legacy.
