The State House has categorically confirmed that the appointment of the seasoned singer Edrisa Musuuza known by his stage name as Eddy Kenzo as a presidential advisor is valid.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday August 21, 2024, appointed the popular musician as his advisor on Creatives.
Mr Kirunda Faruk, the deputy press secretary of president Museveni on Thursday evening informed the country to ignore the purported appointment of other individuals in different offices.
This after a list of purported appointees made rounds on social media.
In the doctored list, Dr Tang Odoi was reported that he had been appointed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Hon Kiwanda Subi as the new chairperson electoral commission and Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo as the presidential envoy to Canada among others.
Mr Kirunda described their purported appointment as invalid.
“Please, ignore the news purporting various new appointments by H.E the president except for Mr. Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo who has been appointed Presidential advisor on Creatives. FK,” Mr Kirunda tweeted on his official “X” handle.
Kenzo who is also the president of the Uganda Musicians Federation received overwhelming congratulatory messages towards his new appointment.
He was congratulated by his wife Phiona Nyamutooro, the state minister energy.
Kenzo has got close to the State House after entering into marriage with Museveni’s minister Nyamutooro.
His appointment created mixed reactions among Ugandans, criticizing president Museveni for appointing “dilute” individuals as his advisors.
Kenzo had joins Catherine Kusasira, Buchanan, Full Figure and other socialites appointed by Museveni as presidentail advisors.
