Busoga One Radio 90.6, the leading FM station in Busoga, has broken its silence regarding its recent closure by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), addressing the unfounded rumors that have been circulating in the region.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the station’s manager, Innocent Anyole, confirmed that the closure was due to compliance issues highlighted by UCC, the country’s sole media regulatory body.
Anyole reassured the public that the station had received official communication from UCC and was working diligently to address the concerns raised.
“I want to assure you that we’ve fully addressed the concerns raised by UCC and are now awaiting their response,” Anyole stated, adding that the station is committed to following the regulatory guidelines. “Contrary to speculation, our situation is solely a regulatory matter between Busoga One Radio and UCC. We’ve taken all necessary steps to comply with UCC’s requirements, and we’re optimistic that this issue will be resolved in accordance with the law.”
He dismissed the unfounded speculations that have been circulating since the station went off the air, urging the public to disregard baseless rumors and focus on verified information from the station’s management.
Anyole’s statement is a clear rebuttal to those who had been spreading misinformation about the station’s closure, with many trading in wild and inaccurate claims. The station manager emphasized that this was strictly a regulatory matter and expressed confidence that Busoga One Radio would be back on air soon after UCC’s review.
As the station waits for the green light to resume operations, Anyole urged the public to trust the process and remain patient.
