Police in Wankole Subcounty, Kamuli district have arrested two brothers, Isaac Mugabi, 27, and John Bosco Eria, 22, on charges of store breaking and theft.
The brothers are accused of breaking into Lukumi Millers (U) Limited’s Milling House located at Buwala trading centre and stealing two motors, each with a power rating of 50 horsepower, valued at approximately 9 million shillings.
The suspects were apprehended after a police sniffer dog from Kamuli Police tracked their footsteps from the crime scene to their father, Fred Muwereza Mugabi’s premises, where the brothers were hiding.
Busoga North Region Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha, confirmed the arrests and condemned the involvement of young people in criminal activities. “We urge the youth to engage in productive work rather than resorting to theft,” Kasadha said.
He further noted that investigations are ongoing, and once completed, the suspects will be charged in court.
Police are intensifying efforts to curb theft and other crimes in the region, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
