Authorities in Kayunga District are urgently seeking the relatives of a 15-year-old girl identified as Sumaya Namutebi, who was allegedly kidnapped from her home in Wakatayi village, Zirobwe Subcounty, Luwero District.
The young girl was later abandoned by unknown assailants in the Bweramondo Nakaseeta Swamp, Kitimbwa Subcounty, Kayunga, during the night.
The victim reported to local authorities in Kitimbwa that her mother is Zaina Wakooli and her father is Abubaker Kifampa, both residents of Wakatayi village.
According to the girl, she was abducted from her home in Luwero and transported to Kitimbwa, a location unfamiliar to her.
Kayunga Deputy RDC, Trevor Solomon Baleke, appealed to anyone with information about the girl’s parents to come forward.
“If anyone in Luwero knows this girl or her parents, please inform them that we are keeping her at the Child and Family Protection Unit of Kayunga Central Police Station. We have asked the police to register and investigate her case,” Baleke stated.
Baleke also praised local leaders in Kitimbwa, particularly area female district councilor Ms. Namukose, for their quick response and assistance in recovering the girl from the swamp. Their vigilance played a crucial role in ensuring her safety.
“During this festive, parents should be extra vigilant. Don’t send your children to nearby trading centres at night,” the Deputy RDC advised.
Authorities are working to reunite the girl with her family and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her abduction.
