Sex workers in Mbale have expressed deep gratitude after President Yoweri Museveni donated 100 million shillings to support their welfare, with many vowing to mobilize their peers and clients to rally behind the president and his ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
During a recent event, the sex workers praised the donation, acknowledging the positive impact it would have on their livelihoods. They thanked President Museveni for recognizing their plight and extending a helping hand.
One of the sex workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “This is a great gesture from the president. We have been neglected for so long, but this donation shows that he cares about all citizens, regardless of their profession. We will make sure to mobilize our clients and fellow workers to support Museveni and NRM in the upcoming elections.”
Another sex worker, speaking in a similar tone, added, “We’ve seen what the NRM government has done for us. The president’s donation is just the beginning. We will encourage everyone we know to vote for Museveni and help spread the word about his kindness.”
The 100 million shillings donation has been hailed by many in the sex work community as a sign of inclusion and recognition from the president, who has often advocated for the welfare of marginalized groups. Sex workers in Mbale have vowed to use their networks to ensure that Museveni garners the support of their clients and peers in the coming elections.
