Minister of the Presidency Announces Death of Budaka Deputy RDC, Hajjat Nusura Nabukalu

Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, the Minister of the Presidency, has officially confirmed the tragic death of Budaka Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajjat Nusura Nabukalu, following a fatal road accident on Sunday, December 29, 2024. In a heartfelt message shared via her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Minister Babalanda expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a “heartbreaking” incident.

Babalanda said the death of Nabukalu is not only heartbreaking but a painful loss.

“I announce the heartbreaking news of the death of the Deputy RDC Budaka, Hajjat Nabukalu Nusura, who has died in an accident this evening. So painful a loss at this time. She will be dearly missed for her dedicated services to the motherland. May her soul rest in eternal peace and condolences to family, friends, and the Presidency at large!” Babalanda wrote.

Nabukalu, widely known as “Bwera,” tragically lost her life after her vehicle collided with a trailer on the Jinja-Iganga Highway at around 5:00 p.m. at the Waitambogwe curve in Mayuge District. The 2023 Toyota Demax (UG 4803C) she was driving was en route to Jinja when the crash occurred. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after the accident.

Major Martha Asiimwe, Head of the RDC Secretariat in Uganda, also paid tribute to the late Deputy RDC, describing her as a “polished cadre” and a “promising administrator.” Major Asiimwe praised Nabukalu for her unwavering dedication and service to her community, emphasizing that her loss was felt deeply both within the Presidency and across the country.

Nabukalu had just attended an official event in Bulamagi, Iganga District, before the tragic incident. Following the accident, her body was transported to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital by Bugweri RDC, Magala Banuli, for further handling.

The news of her untimely passing has left the Budaka region and the nation in mourning, with many recalling her tireless efforts in serving the people. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
