KAMULI – Police in Kamuli District have arrested a 35-year-old woman, Nabirye Kevin, for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by cutting off his genitals.
The victim, Bwamiki Mathias, 37, is currently admitted at Kamuli General Hospital in critical condition.
According to ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Regional Police spokesperson, the brutal attack happened on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at around 11:00 PM at the couple’s home in Buguwa village, Kawaga Parish, Balawoli Subcounty.
“The victim’s brother, Mukubo Godfrey, received a distress call from Bwamiki, informing him of the attack. When he arrived at the house, he found the victim in a pool of blood, still struggling with the wife. He managed to rescue his brother before reporting the matter to police,” Kasadha confirmed.
Police have since recovered key evidence from the scene as investigations continue.
“The suspect has been arrested, and exhibits of evidential value have been recovered from the scene. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing,” Kasadha added.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but police have urged couples to seek peaceful conflict resolution instead of resorting to violence.
This incident comes amid rising cases of domestic violence in the region, with authorities emphasizing the need for community interventions to prevent such gruesome acts.
