The Kiira Regional Police Command has launched an intense manhunt for a group of armed and dangerous criminals who brutally executed a robbery and shooting on the evening of Friday, April 4 in Buwenge Town Council, Jinja District.
According to preliminary police findings, the attackers struck around 8:00 PM, storming Praise God Hardware Shop under the cover of darkness. They robbed an unspecified amount of cash before opening fire, fatally wounding Bumali Mbadi and leaving Eric Matege in critical condition.

“The victims were innocent customers who had simply come to buy hardware items. It is a chilling and senseless act of violence,” said SP James Mubi, the Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson. “We have mobilized all our intelligence and operational teams to track down these ruthless thugs. They will face the full force of the law.”
Police from Buwenge Police Station, under the command of DPC SP Morris Oyee, swiftly responded to the crime scene. A cartridge was recovered and has since been submitted to the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) in Kampala for ballistic analysis.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, while the injured victim is receiving specialized treatment at the same facility.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
“We call upon the public to remain alert and cautious. These criminals are desperate and dangerous. Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be vital in bringing them to justice,” SP Mubi added.
The Kiira Regional Police Command reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property and is working tirelessly to restore calm and bring the culprits to book.
