PARLIAMENT – In a bold show of unity and political strategy, National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders from Lwengo District have thrown their weight behind Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, endorsing her for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
The endorsement, which came shortly after a symbolic visit to Parliament, was led by the newly elected NRM District Chairperson for Lwengo, Hon. Cissy Namujju, who praised Speaker Among for her “unwavering commitment, dedication, and advocacy for unity within the party.”
Clad in their signature yellow party attire, over 40 chairpersons and mobilizers from across Lwengo gathered on the steps of Parliament to express their support, chanting party slogans and raising their fists in solidarity. The group emphasized that Speaker Among’s leadership style and firm stand on party values make her the ideal candidate to further strengthen cohesion at the party’s top leadership table.
“We want a leader who not only listens but acts. Madam Speaker has stood with us in Parliament, she has stood for the party, and we believe she can now stand for us in CEC,” said Hon. Namujju.
The endorsement comes at a time when the NRM is preparing for a reorganization of its top organ, the CEC, which plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the ruling party. The Lwengo team believes that with Among at the helm as 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), the party will benefit from her firm but inclusive leadership approach.
Speaker Among, visibly humbled by the gesture, thanked the leaders for their confidence and reiterated her commitment to serving the party and the country.
“It is not about positions; it is about serving the people and building a stronger, united NRM,” she told the gathering.
With endorsements like this beginning to trickle in, the race for the CEC slots is expected to heat up, and Among’s growing support base across the country could make her a frontrunner for the influential position.
