Police in Kabale District are investigating the circumstances under which a 30-year-old man was found dead in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.

The deceased, identified as Twesigye Anthony, a resident of Rukidi Street, Bazaar Parish, Southern Division, Fort Portal Municipality, was discovered lifeless on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025, inside Kabale Municipal Stadium.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the body was found at about 7:52 pm by two men who had gone to the stadium for leisure. The body was lying on the green grass near the stadium’s perimeter wall.

Upon receiving the alert, police swiftly responded to the scene, which was processed and documented.

During a search of the body, officers recovered a national identity card confirming the deceased’s particulars and a sachet of a brown substance, suspected to be rat poison, as it bore a picture of a rat.

“The discovery of the sachet raised suspicion of possible suicide,” ASP Maate stated.

The body was later conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
