With barely a full political term under her belt, Annet Nabirye has taken Luuka District by storm — not with empty promises, but with action, development, and unmatched community connection. Now, with the 2026 general elections in sight, Luuka residents are not just ready — they are eagerly waiting to vote her into Parliament.
Nabirye, the newly elected NRM Women League Chairperson for Luuka, this week picked nomination forms to contest for the District Woman Member of Parliament seat, sending an unmistakable signal that a new era is dawning in Luuka’s political leadership.
Unlike many aspirants whose campaign trails begin with noise and no impact, Nabirye’s track record speaks volumes. From roads to agriculture, youth empowerment to education advocacy, Nabirye has already built a legacy even before holding a parliamentary seat — a rare feat in today’s political landscape.
“We’re not just supporting her — we’re walking her to Parliament,” said a village elder from Bukooma. “She has already done what many in that seat haven’t. Now we want her to do it with more power and a national voice.”
Armed with a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from UMI and a Bachelor’s Degree from Makerere University Business School, Nabirye is not only academically prepared but politically grounded. Her humility and accessibility have endeared her to all demographics — women, youth, elders, and farmers.
Her development footprint includes:
- Supplying 40,000kgs of quality maize and bean seeds across Luuka’s 310 villages
- Distributing agricultural tools including hoes and water pumps
- Empowering youth groups with tailoring and salon equipment for self-employment
- Lobbying for tarmacked roads that now ease transport and trade
- Recovering irrigation scheme funds that had been lost in bureaucracy
When asked about detractors who dismiss her candidacy, Nabirye simply smiled. “They fear the voice of the people. But I serve the people, and the people are speaking loudly,” she said.
Indeed, from the furthest parishes to the town centers, Luuka is abuzz with the name Nabirye — a name many say represents progress, unity, and results.
With the NRM primaries approaching, all signs suggest Luuka is no longer debating whether to vote for Annet Nabirye. They are only counting down to when.
Ends.
