What in the knicker-nomics is going on in Soroti City East?
A photo doing wild rounds on social media has left tongues wagging after it emerged that parliamentary aspirant Emachu Arnold allegedly branded women’s underwear with his campaign portrait and slogan — sparking both outrage and admiration in equal measure!
In the now viral image, a bright red lace panty bears Emachu’s official campaign poster stuck boldly at the centre, complete with the Ugandan flag in the background and his message to the voters of Soroti City East.
While we could not independently verify whether this is real merchandise or a viral joke by creative supporters, netizens have already picked sides:
“This man knows exactly where the vote lies – in the kabina!”, one cheeky Facebook user commented, sending hundreds bursting into emojis.
“Forget posters and T-shirts,” another wrote, “women are the only class that turns up for every election. This is not campaign material — it’s strategy!”
However, not everyone is laughing. A section of critics branded the move “indecent and desperate”, warning that politics should not be “commercialised to underwear levels”. Some questioned whether the candidate would ever be taken seriously again if indeed he authorised such intimate branding.
But as the debate rages on, Emachu’s name continues to dominate WhatsApp groups, TikTok and gossip corridors — giving him free publicity that other candidates can only dream of.
A senior NRM mobiliser whispered to Eye Gossip Desk that “whether fake or real, the trick has worked – everyone in Teso is now talking about Emachu Arnold”.
One thing is for sure: if political seats were awarded for creativity and daring marketing, Emachu may have already won… from inside the wardrobe!
Stay tuned — and keep your eyes (and hips) open — because this campaign season is already getting hotter than the underwear in question!
