Tragedy has struck the farming community in Busoga after the Chairman of Buyende District Farmers Association, Mr. Moses Samanya, lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Kamuli–Jinja highway.
The crash occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at around 4:00pm near Kasambira Trading Centre. It involved a Toyota Hiace taxi (reg. No. UBH 068J) and a Yamaha motorcycle (reg. No. UFC 423B) which Samanya was riding.
Preliminary Findings
According to police, the motorcycle allegedly rammed into the rear of the stationary taxi, leaving the rider with grave injuries. He was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha confirmed the incident, noting that both the taxi and the motorcycle were immediately impounded and taken to Kamuli Central Police Station pending mechanical inspection.
Police Call for Caution
ASP Kasadha urged road users to remain vigilant and considerate, stressing that most crashes in the region are linked to recklessness and poor judgment on the road.
“We remind all road users to always exercise vigilance and responsibility while using public roads,” he said.
✅ The Eye Media Take:
The death of Samanya is a blow not only to his family but also to the farmers he represented in Buyende. His passing highlights yet again the grim toll of road crashes on Busoga’s leadership and productive citizens.
