Kayunga Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Trevor Solomon Baleke has urged parents and community members to uphold peace, tolerance and co-existence as the country heads into the 2026 general elections, reminding them never to take for granted the stability Uganda enjoys today.

Speaking as Guest of Honour at the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony of Owen Falls Junior School in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, Baleke delivered a strong message of national unity, drawing applause from hundreds of parents—mostly mothers—teachers and pupils.

“Elections come and go, but Uganda is our permanent home. Let us be peaceful to one another, let us co-exist, let us tolerate one another,” he said.

“The peace and stability we enjoy today did not come cheaply. It is a result of years of deliberate effort and leadership under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. We must protect it.”

Baleke warned against divisive behaviour and urged the community to show children a positive example during this politically active period.

He praised Owen Falls Junior School for its impressive growth from a small nursery school in a rented structure 13 years ago to its current permanent home.

He commended the proprietors, SSP Felix Mugizi and his wife Maureen, for building a strong institution that continues to shape children into disciplined, confident citizens.

“Owen Falls Junior School is a testimony that with resilience, good leadership and community support, great things can grow from a humble beginning,” he noted.

The RDC also encouraged parents to closely guide their children during the long holiday ahead of school reopening on February 2, 2026, reminding them that unmonitored time often exposes young people to negative influences.

“Engage them at home, monitor their movements, and ensure they remain focused. Your guidance makes all the difference,” he said.

The colourful graduation ceremony featured performances, awards and celebrations as the school community marked a successful academic year and looked forward to 2026 with renewed optimism.
