In a loud statement on the shifting power dynamics in Uganda’s media space, NBS Radio talk show host Sir Grace Mwesigwa has clinched the Best Radio Personality of the Year award at the Nile Excellence Awards 2025, riding on massive audience support.
Mwesigwa’s victory, sealed through a popular vote, saw him outshine some of the country’s most seasoned radio figures, including Hashim of Voice of Tororo, Ayomi Benedicto of Baba FM, and Mbajjwe Rogers of Busoga One—a clear signal that listener engagement is fast redefining success in Uganda’s radio industry.
Unlike traditional accolades often dominated by longevity and seniority, Mwesigwa’s win underscores the growing influence of new-generation broadcasters who connect authentically with their audiences. His shows, which blend social commentary, political debate, and grassroots advocacy, have struck a chord with listeners, positioning him as one of the most relatable and impactful voices on Ugandan radio.
Beyond the microphone, Mwesigwa has distinguished himself through community-driven initiatives. In December, he mobilized support for families affected by HIV in Jinja City during World AIDS Day, reinforcing his belief that media influence must translate into real social impact.
His earlier recognition as a brand ambassador for Whispers Magical International School of Nursing Excellence further highlighted his commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement.
Sir Grace Mwesigwa’s Nile Excellence Awards triumph is more than a personal milestone—it is a defining moment for Uganda’s media landscape, signaling a shift toward audience-powered recognition, where authenticity, relevance, and community connection now outweigh mere longevity on air.
