A bold shift toward mechanised agriculture is gaining momentum in Eastern Uganda, as Meta Plant and Equipment Uganda spearheads the rollout of durable New Holland tractors, offering farmers a practical path to modern, efficient farming.
Launched at the Outgrowers Hall at Kakira Sugar Works Limited, the initiative—implemented in partnership with DFCU Bank—is already drawing strong interest from farmers, particularly sugarcane growers eager to scale production and improve efficiency. The program provides access to high-quality tractors through affordable financing at an interest rate of 10 percent, making mechanisation more attainable than ever.
At the heart of the initiative is the reliability and performance of the machinery itself. During the launch, Meta Plant showcased the New Holland tractor range, highlighting its durability under Uganda’s demanding farming conditions. Built to withstand tough terrain and long working hours, the tractors promise consistent output and long-term value—key priorities for farmers making significant investments.
“These tractors are built to last,” said Docus Najjemba, Marketing Executive at Meta Plant. “When a farmer invests in a New Holland tractor, they are securing years of dependable productivity. This is machinery designed specifically for our soils, our weather, and the realities of Ugandan farming.”

She emphasized that mechanisation is no longer optional but essential. With rising labor costs and increasing demand for agricultural output, farmers must adopt efficient solutions to remain competitive. Mechanised farming not only saves time and reduces physical labor but also significantly boosts yields.
Meta Plant has positioned itself as more than just a supplier, offering end-to-end support for farmers—from equipment selection and financing guidance to after-sales service. “We are walking with farmers through the entire journey. Our goal is to ensure they succeed,” Najjemba added.
While DFCU Bank provides flexible financing options, its leaders acknowledged that the strength of the initiative lies in the quality of the machinery. Gloria Namutebi Suuna, Manager for Vehicle and Asset Financing at DFCU, noted that access alone is not enough without reliable equipment to back it.
“Our role is to enable access, but it is the quality of these machines that truly transforms farming outcomes,” she said.
DFCU’s Eastern Regional Manager, Patrick Enock, reinforced the importance of mechanisation in driving agricultural growth.
“Empowering farmers goes beyond financing—it’s about equipping them with tools that can genuinely increase productivity. That is what this partnership delivers,” he said.
Farmers have welcomed the initiative with optimism. Mombwe David Christopher, Chairman of the Kakira Outgrowers Sugarcane Association, described the tractors as a timely intervention that will enable farmers to expand acreage and improve output.

As Uganda’s agricultural sector continues to evolve, Meta Plant and Equipment Uganda is positioning itself at the forefront of change—championing durable, efficient, and farmer-focused solutions. Through the strength of New Holland tractors, the message is clear: the future of farming is mechanised, and that future is already unfolding.
