A bold push towards mechanised agriculture is taking shape in Eastern Uganda, with Meta Plant and Equipment Uganda leading the charge through the rollout of the powerful and reliable New Holland Tractors. In partnership with DFCU Bank, the initiative is already capturing the imagination of farmers eager to transition into modern, efficient farming.
Launched at the Outgrowers Hall at Kakira Sugar Works Limited, the program is tailored to support farmers especially sugarcane growers with access to high quality tractors through affordable financing at an interest rate of 10 percent. But beyond financing, it is Meta Plant’s machinery that is at the heart of this transformation.
Showcasing the New Holland range, Meta Plant demonstrated why its equipment is increasingly becoming the farmer’s choice across Uganda. Built for durability and performance under tough field conditions, the tractors promise not just efficiency, but long-term reliability an essential factor for farmers seeking value for their investment.
“These tractors are built to last,” said Docus Najjemba, Marketing Executive at Meta Plant. “When a farmer invests in a New Holland tractor, they are not just buying equipment they are securing consistent productivity for years. This is machinery designed for Ugandan soils, Ugandan weather, and the realities of our farming systems.”
Najjemba emphasized that mechanisation is no longer a luxury but a necessity. “With rising labor costs and increasing demand for agricultural output, farmers need dependable machines. Mechanised farming saves time, reduces human effort, and significantly boosts yields. This is the direction agriculture must take if farmers are to remain competitive,” she noted.
She added that Meta Plant has worked closely to ensure that access to these tractors is practical and achievable. “We are not just selling tractors we are walking with farmers through the entire journey, from selection to acquisition and after sales support. Our goal is to see farmers succeed,” Najjemba explained.
While DFCU Bank provides the financial backing, offering flexible loan arrangements, the spotlight remained firmly on the transformative potential of Meta Plant’s equipment. Gloria Namutebi Suuna, Manager for Vehicle and Asset Financing at DFCU, acknowledged this synergy. “Our role is to enable access, but it is the quality of these machines that truly makes the difference for farmers,” she said.
DFCU’s Eastern Regional Manager, Patrick Enock, echoed the importance of mechanisation in driving agricultural growth. “Empowering farmers goes beyond financing it involves giving them tools that can truly change their productivity levels. That is what this partnership delivers,” he noted.
Farmers have already welcomed the initiative with optimism. Mombwe David Christopher, Chairman of the Kakira Outgrowers Sugarcane Association, described the tractors as a timely intervention. “With machines like these, farmers can expand their acreage and improve output. It is a major step forward for us,” he said.
As Uganda’s agricultural sector evolves, Meta Plant and Equipment Uganda is positioning itself at the forefront of that change championing durable, efficient, and farmer centered solutions. Through the strength of New Holland tractors, the message is clear: the future of farming is mechanised, and that future is already here.
