OPERATION SHUJAA: UPDF recovers 8 guns as 2 ADF rebels are killed

The joint forces of Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and the armed forces of the Congoleese Army (FARDC) in their continuing operation code named Shujaa against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have registered more successes against the rebel group.

The 15th battalion of the joint forces on Sunday July 30, 2023 around 10:00am in the general areas of Talia, North Kivu province in DRC, came in contact with about 10 to 15 ADF rebels.

During the fight, 2 rebels were put out of action, 5 SMG, 1 PMK, 22 rounds of PMK, 91rounds of SMG, 3 empty chains of PMK recoverd and 3 Radio calls were all recoverd.

public information officer UPDF mountain Division/operation Shujaa confirmed this report Monday July 31, 2023 evening.

Maj Katamba also said that, earlier, at around 2:40 pm on July 29, 2023, in the general areas of Ndalia North East of Tingwe, the joint forces operating in sector three under 3rd mountain battalion engaged the terrorists group and killed one of the rebels.

Two SMGs, 3 IEDs, 64 rounds of SMG, 36 rounds of PMK, 3 radio calls and 3 empty magazines were recovered.

“The joint forces continue to hunt down the ADF scattered terrorists to ensure the area is left peaceful. We congratulate the joint forces of 3rd mountain and 15th infantry battalions for the successes achieved,” said Maj Bilal Katamba.
